In Vietnam, the most widely used currency is Vietnam Dong (VND). Currencies of Arab countries are not used much in Vietnam, so you should change money to USD.

2. How to change money in Vietnam

You can change money at the airport, at the bank, some money changers and some gold shops are allowed to exchange money and have a clear exchange rate. The exchange rate is about 1 usd = 24.530VND ( 9/2024)

3. Reasonable use of money in Vietnam

• In some local markets or vehicles such as taxis that do not use a meter, you can ask for a price before deciding to choose. In some schools you can bargain to get the right price for the item of your choice
• Do not haggle at stores or supermarkets that list prices
• Some shops list prices excluding VAT. You can ask the staff at the store before deciding to buy
• Payment by visa card and master card are widely used in shops and supermarkets and restaurants in Vietnam

4. Tax refund service at the airport

In Vietnam, the VAT refund service is available to all foreigners using a valid passport

In order to receive a tax refund, tourists must purchase goods at pilot businesses selling VAT refund goods in Vietnam and bring such goods with them when leaving the country.

5.Regulations on cash when entering Vietnam

Tourists entering Vietnam and carrying over 5000 USD in cash or foreign currencies of equivalent value must carry out customs declaration procedures at the border gate. Thus, when returning home, if you bring cash with a value of less than 5000 USD, you do not have to declare it, if it is above this level, you must carry out the declaration procedures in accordance with the law.
